WESTERN AUSTRALIA

In Western Australia, the assault victimisation rate decreased from 1,004.6 victims per 100,000 people in 2013 to 971.3 victims per 100,000 people in 2014.

In Western Australia during 2014:

  • Over a quarter (28% or 7,121 victims) of all assault victims were aged between 25 and 34 years;
  • Females accounted for 56% (14,107 victims) of total assault victims;
  • Just under half of all recorded assaults against males (49% or 5,265 victims) and more than two thirds of assaults against females (73% or 10,283 victims) occurred at a residential location; and
  • For four in five victims of assault (80% or 19,893 victims), no weapon was used by the offender.
